UNH Institute on Disability Seeks Research / Clinical Faculty Member

The Institute on Disability, A University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) and the Department of Occupational Therapy invite applications for a shared, full-time Research or Clinical Faculty position to begin June, 2009. This is a 100%, academic year position with summer required. Candidates with a foundation in child development, disability, autism spectrum disorders, and occupational science are encouraged to apply.

Those seeking senior and junior positions will be considered. The position includes assuming the role of Program Director of the NH Leadership in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) interdisciplinary training program which is a joint initiative between Dartmouth Medical School and the University of New Hampshire. The position of Research Faculty requires the candidate to implement a well-defined program of research as well as teach coursework associated with the LEND Program. The Clinical Faculty position requires the teaching of courses associated with the LEND Program, as well as within the Department of Occupational Therapy. The Institute on Disability and the Department of Occupational Therapy are part of the College of Health and Human Services, a dynamic unit in a research-intensive, liberal arts, land grant institution.

Responsibilities: a) Leadership and coordination of the NH LEND program which includes a strong emphasis on autism spectrum disorders and medical home improvement; b) Teaching coursework associated with the LEND program; c) Advising students and providing community, university, and other professional service; d) For Research Faculty, implementing a defined program of research at UNH; and e) For Clinical Faculty, teaching undergraduate and graduate coursework in a program that awards a BS in Occupational Science and an MS in Occupational Therapy, and clinic work associated with the LEND Program.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctorate (or PhD candidacy) in occupational therapy, psychology, or a field related to child development and/or disability, and a record of effective teaching. They must demonstrate an orientation towards child development, knowledge of family-centered practices, and an ability to work with individuals and groups of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, disability, and/or ethnic backgrounds. Research faculty must have an established research plan or program. Preference will be given to candidates with university teaching experience, and expertise in disability including autism spectrum disorders.
