Rehabilitation Services Administration

The mission of the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) is "to provide leadership and resources to assist state and other agencies in providing vocational rehabilitation (VR), independent living (IL) and other services to individuals with disabilities to maximize their employment, independence and integration into the community and the competitive labor market".

Among other things, RSA is charged with:

  • administering formula and discretionary grant programs authorized by Congress
  • evaluating, monitoring, and reporting on the implementation of federal policy and programs and the effectiveness of vocational rehabilitation, supported employment, independent living, and other related programs for individuals with disabilities

The Institute on Disability is implementing two assistive technology grants administered by RSA:

  • Current Formula Grant:  Assitive Technology in New Hampshire (ATinNH), New Hampshires's State Assistive Technology program
  • Current Discretionary Grant (2010-2015):  AT Connects, the national public information site for assistive technology

The Gibney Family Foundation 

"Partnering with others to develop sustainable resources for organizations that foster independence, primiarly for those who are blind."

This family foundation has supported a number of assistive technology initiatives over the years.  Currently, Dr. Therese Willkomm is completing a book on Assistive Technology with the support from The Gibney Family Foundation.

The Endowment for Health is a statewide, independent, private, non-profit foundation created in 1999 as a result of the sale of Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Hampshire to Anthem Insurance, Companies, Inc.  The mission of the Endowment for Health is:  to improve the health and reduce the burden of illness of the people of New Hampshire.
