Leadership Training


The IOD strives to have a major influence on the preparation of leaders in fields related to individuals with disabilities. With training geared toward self advocates, families, youth, health professionals, direct support professionals, and more, the IOD is a source for leadership training across the life span.

  • The New Hampshire Maternal and Child Health Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (MCH-LEND) Program

    The purpose of the MCH-LEND Program is to prepare professionals in health care and related disciplines to assume leadership positions in the provision of health and related services and social supports for children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families.

  • NH Leadership Education in Autism Spectrum Disorders (NH LEASD)

    The aim of the New Hampshire Leadership Education in Autism Spectrum Disorders (NH LEASD) Program is to increase early screening, diagnosis, and effective family-centered treatment of children with ASD. The overall goal of the program is to increase the number of highly qualified health-care and education professionals who have the knowledge, skills, and leadership abilities to provide evidenced-based services for children with or suspected of having ASD and their families, including screening, referral, diagnosis, assessment, and interventions.

  • NH Leadership Series

    Through the courses, leaders emerge who have a clear vision, knowledge about state-of-the-art supports for individuals with disabilities, and skills necessary for advocating with service providers. They know how to use the legislative process to achieve change, and how to organize communities to support inclusion. The NH Leadership Series enhances the ability of people and families to change laws, persuade schools and businesses to include individuals with disabilities, and educate communities about the importance of welcoming and including every member.

  • Seacoast Child Development Clinic

    The Seacoast Child Development Clinic provides family-centered and culturally sensitive interdisciplinary evaluation and consultation to assist families of children who have developmental challenges to make informed decisions regarding medical, developmental, and educational needs.

  • Youth Empowerment Services (YES)

    Youth Empowerment Services (YES) is a three-year initiative of the University of New Hampshire’s Institute on Disability designed to develop and promote leadership and self-advocacy skills to assist young people in preparing for their futures.
